Head of Marketing, Accra Brewery Plc Chuka Nnaobi, has indicated that the brand’s latest initiative dubbed the “Beta Malt Flip It Art Recycling Challenge” comes across as a dual-purpose drive for the company.
According to Mr. Nnaobi, the brand which is committed to socio-environmental impact is driven to encourage creativity, and promote a clean environment through its latest challenge for junior schools.
“We exist to encourage creativity and ambition of our young ones. This initiative is a drive to enable our young ones show their creativity while also cleaning up the environment. So it’s a dual purpose drive for us,” he said.
Mr. Nnaobi further indicated that the brand Beta Malt exists to nourish the creativity of young people and is the only true malt in Ghana. According to him, it is fortified with Vitamin A and C, which nourishes and build the creativity of young people.
“We often call them leaders of tomorrow, but we believe that they can show us what it means to keep our environment clean. So, the first step is this clean-up exercise to turn around waste plastic into creative art. But that’s the first step,” he said.
The just-ended Beta Malt Flip It Art Recycling Challenge which came off on Thursday, March 16 aimed at unearthing creative abilities of young people in recycling plastic waste for meaningful purposes. The initiative is part of the company’s commitment to a better world, free of plastic waste.
Rev. Adotey Lartey Memorial School emerged as the winner amongst ten schools which contested in the Beta Malt Flip It Art Recycling Challenge. The school amassed 85 points for designing a hut with 675 recycled bottles of Beta Malt with other materials.
The winner took home a cash prize of GH¢10,000 with the two runners-up; Ashaiman No 3 Basic School and Flagstaff House Basic School receiving GH¢7,000 and GH¢5,000 respectively.
As part of the initiative, the company has provided recycling bins in all participating schools to encourage recycling among students. Mr. Nnaobi also called on the media and the public to join the company’s efforts to take care of the environment.
