Ghanaian musician Fantana has talked about the impact of her appearance on South Africa’s television reality show ‘Young Famous and African’ on her music career.
In a recent interview on Y 107.9 FM’s Myd Morning Radio Show, Fantana mentioned how the show introduced her to the South African music genre of amapiano, and how she learned more about it from Diamond Platnumz.
“There were two talented musicians on the show, Diamond and Nadia, as well as other SA musicians and DJs. They have their own sounds, you know, so I became friends with them and I got stacked with amapiano because that’s the bash there. I didn’t get it from the start but gradually I loved it,” Fantana said.
Fantana further revealed that she spent a lot of time with Diamond Platnumz, who she describes as one of her favourite artistes, to learn more about the amapiano sound and South Africa’s music culture.
“I spent more time with Diamond a lot because he was one of my favorite artistes and I loved his sound. I spent a lot of time with him to learn different stuff from him. He’s very good at what he does,” she said.
Fantana also indicated that she met Nigerian music legend 2Baba during her time on the reality show and got some valuable insights from him. “I met 2Baba and also got bits from him,” she added.
Fantana’s appearance on the reality show has exposed her to different sounds and perspectives in music, and she is looking to incorporate these new learnings into her music career.
The Ghanaian sensation recently dropped her first 2023 single, “Your Man” off her highly anticipated EP titled, “Pills and Concoctions” set for release in July.
