Ghanaian music star, Mr. Drew has indicated that he prefers to be addressed as himself under than being tagged as “Ghana’s Chris Brow”.

In a recent interview on Y 107.9 FM’s “Dryve of Your Lyfe” with Kojo Manuel, the popular musician, Mr. Drew, expressed his thoughts on being compared to international superstar Chris Brown.

While many people have dubbed him “Ghana’s Chris Brown,” Mr. Drew revealed that he doesn’t necessarily embrace the comparison and would prefer to be known solely as himself.

“Lots of people call me Ghana’s Chris Brown but for me, I prefer they stop. I just want to be Mr. Drew and that’s all,” Mr. Drew shared.

He further explained that being associated with Chris Brown often places unnecessary pressure on him and pushes him towards certain things he is actively trying to avoid.

Recognizing the immense success and global influence of Chris Brown, Mr. Drew acknowledged him as a great personality and artiste, expressing his admiration and the influence Chris Brown has had on his own career. However, he emphasized his desire to carve out his own unique identity and establish himself on a large scale.

“Chris Brown has already established himself in the world and on a very large scale, so that’s what I’m also trying to do for my career. But don’t call me Ghana’s Chris Brown. I want to be known as Mr. Drew,” Mr. Drew asserted.

As a multifaceted artiste making significant strides in his career, Mr. Drew aims to showcase his individuality and create his own brand. While he appreciates the flattering comparison to an international superstar, he hopes that fans and the media will recognize his talent and potential as an artist in his own right.

With his distinctive style and captivating performances, Mr. Drew has been making waves in the Ghanaian music industry, gaining a loyal fanbase and earning recognition for his exceptional talent. As he continues to pursue his musical journey, Mr. Drew remains focused on establishing his own unique legacy and leaving a mark as Mr. Drew, rather than being seen as a reflection of someone else’s success.

The Ghanaian musician released his first single of 2023 after he parted ways with his former record label, Highly Spiritual. He has also hinted at releasing his first project after being an individual artiste.
