Nigerian Chef Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci, has been dethroned as endorsed Guiness World Records (GWR) record holder for longest cooking marathon (individual).
The Nigerian socialite who became a Pan African beacon of hope earlier this year, was confirmed as ex-record holder by the GWR and presented Alan Fisher as the new record holder.
According to the GWR, Alan Fisher broke Baci’s record by an overwhelming stretch of 199 hours 57 minutes and was also announced as the record holder for the longest baking marathon (individual) which was previously held by USA’s Wendy Sandner. “Alan Fisher (Ireland), an owner and chef of a restaurant in Japan, has broken two cooking-related Guinness World Records titles,” the statement read. First up, he’s claimed the longest cooking marathon (individual) after clocking in a time of 119 hours 57 minutes. That is more than 24 hours longer than the previous record held by Nigerian chef Hilda Baci. Alan then claimed the longest baking marathon (individual), with a time of 47 hours 21 minutes. The previous record holder was Wendy Sandner (USA) with a time of 31 hours 16 minutes.”
Hilda Baci in June dethroned her predecessor, India’s Lata Tondon who held the record with a time of 87 hours 45 minutes since September 2019.
The Nigerian socialite’s original goal was to reach 100 hours, however a deduction which was made from her total time on account of a mishap that was identified within one of her scheduled rest breaks, officially announced her victory with a time of 93 hours 11 minutes.
Hilda Baci joins the list of past record holders and hands over the title to Alan Fisher as GWR’s new record holder for longest baking marathon(individual) and longest cooking marathon (individual).
