In a grand on-air event in the studios of Happy 98.9FM, the maiden edition the Health and Lifestyle Festival, which is the rebranded version of the annual Keep Fit Festival has been launched.
The festival, which will take place at the El-wak Sports Stadium, is on the theme: ‘‘Good Life through Keeping Fit’ and is supported by Databank Mutual Fund and YFM.
Launching this year’s festival on the Anopa Bosuo Show, DJ Advicer, the Event Head of Happy FM, said, “we have changed the look and feel of the festival this year in order to reflect the daily lifestyle of the ordinary Ghanaian. We are not only promoting the habit of keeping fit but also the adoption of other ways of living healthy.’’
He continued that this year’s festival involves interesting on-air programmes like daily health tit-bits on Happy FM and e.TV with a special give-away segment which will reward listeners who answer some health questions correctly.
DJ Advicer added that winners of last year’s festival and other selected keep fit clubs will make a studio appearance at Happy FM to discuss their chances and preparations towards this year’s festival. He disclosed that about 101 keep fit clubs have already registered for this year’s festival.
On his part, the Group CEO of Databank, Mr. Kojo Addae-Mensah, said, “they decided to sponsor this year’s Health and Lifestyle Festival because they believe being healthy goes beyond keeping fit but also maintaining a good lifestyle which involves one’s finances.’’ He said Databank will educate the clubs and other participants about their financial lifestyle during the festival in order to improve upon their overall well-being.
He commended Happy FM for their innovative ways of promoting sports both on and off air and expressed the excitement of Databank for being part of the Health and Lifestyle Festival.
Present at the launch were the Group Marketing Officer of Databank, Mrs Gillian Hammah and representatives of the Greater Accra Keep Fit Clubs Association.
The festival which had its maiden edition on the 5th of September, 2003, is expected to attract 100 clubs who will compete in disciplines such as football, tug-of-peace, athletics, and jama competition among others.
