The Confederation of African Football has officially declared Morocco winners of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after Senegal were ruled to have forfeited the final.
The CAF Appeal Board said Senegal’s walk-off during the match breached tournament regulations, and the result has now been changed to a 3-0 victory in favour of Morocco.
The decision followed an appeal by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, which challenged the earlier disciplinary ruling. CAF said the appeal was upheld, the previous decision was set aside, and Senegal’s conduct was found to fall under Articles 82 and 84 of the AFCON regulations.
CAF also reviewed other incidents from the final. Morocco midfielder Ismael Saibari had his punishment reduced to a two-match suspension, with one match suspended, while his $100,000 fine was cancelled. The Moroccan federation was also fined over the conduct of ball boys and interference around the VAR review area, with some penalties reduced and others upheld.
Senegal have strongly rejected the ruling and plan to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
