Almost a month after its release, the official music video for “Talisman” by new-age Ghanaian artist AratheJay, featuring dancehall star Stonebwoy, has amassed over one million views on YouTube since its release.

Released on February 16, the visual is a standout collaboration from AratheJay’s debut full-length album “The Odyssey”. The rate of engagement on the video indicates strong and sustained audience interest in the weeks following its premiere.

The “Talisman” music video opens with an archival speech from Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s founding father and a towering figure of Pan-Africanism, a deliberate choice that sets the thematic tone for what follows. The track draws on African spirituality, Christian iconography, and ancestral heritage as layered, interconnected forces that define identity, allowing multiple traditions to coexist rather than presenting a single belief system.

Filmed in Ghana, the video moves with the feel of a quiet ritual, a meditation on protection, faith, and inner strength, blending African spirituality, Christian iconography, and ancestral presence into a layered visual language.

Directed by Andy Madjitey, the cinematography takes a measured, documentary-like approach, letting Ghana’s landscapes, symbolism, and atmosphere carry the narrative, filmed on location at vital landmarks across the country.

The song blends Afrobeats, Highlife rhythms, and devotional lyricism, with its central metaphor, a talisman as a source of divine protection and spiritual strength, resonating deeply with listeners across Ghana and the broader African music scene.

“The Odyssey” has drawn significant attention since its release, with “Talisman” standing out as one of its most talked-about tracks. The million-view landmark, reached in under a month, positions AratheJay firmly among Ghana’s most compelling new voices in contemporary music.
