Ghanaian dancehall giant Shatta Wale, and rapper Kwaw Kese have joined in the growing calls for the release of Frederick Kumi popularly identified as Abu Trica.
Social media over the past week has been thrown into a frenzy following the #FreeAbuTrica campaign. The two artistes join a growing list of voices, including Abu Trica’s wife and relatives, who have publicly called for his release. His wife, family, and supporters have also staged demonstrations in Agona Swedru and at the Gbese District Court in Accra, intensifying calls for action.
The two artistes, known for their outspoken views on social issues, called for the release of the young entrepreneur at the just ended Gomoa Easter Carnival, to highlight concerns surrounding the situation, urging authorities to take a second look at the matter. Their interventions have since sparked renewed public interest, with fans and industry players joining the conversation.
While details surrounding Abu Trica’s case continue to circulate, the involvement of high-profile figures like Shatta Wale and Kwaw Kese has added momentum to the campaign, pushing it further into the national spotlight.
Abu Trica was arrested on December 11, 2025, over alleged involvement in cyber fraud. Earlier this year, he filed a GH¢10 million lawsuit, citing what he describes as “cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment” during the initial stages of his arrest.
