YFM is set to empower Ghanaian youth with practical money skills through Money Matters Month, a month-long campaign designed to make financial literacy cool, relatable, and achievable this April. Under the banner “Secure the Bag with YFM”, the campaign delivers real-talk strategies on earning, saving, investing, and building wealth while still enjoying life.
Running throughout April, Money Matters Month combines engaging on-air programming, interactive digital content, and expert advice to help young people take control of their finances.
In Week one(1), the focus will be on Money Basics with the theme “Know Your Money,” covering budgeting, needs against wants, and why many people run broke before the end of the month. Week two(2) shifts to Earning & Side Hustles, featuring interviews with young Ghanaian entrepreneurs, the “Hustle of the Day” segment, and a call-in show where listeners share their biggest money mistakes, how they saved their first GH₵1,000, and their side-hustle experiences.
Week three (3) explores Saving & Investing under the theme “Make Your Money Work,” with bank and fintech experts plus “Money Myth Busters” to debunk common beliefs. In Week four(4), the campaign wraps up with Wealth & Smart Living, discussing how to build wealth in your 20s, “Soft life vs Smart life,” success stories, and the popular “Fix My Finances” segment where listeners get live expert help with their money challenges.
Listeners can also join daily “Money Talks” segments, call-in shows, and share their biggest money mistakes and side-hustle wins.
On the digital front, YFM will flood social media with relatable content. The station will share memes, Reels, and magazines that highlight smart money habits, launch the #SecureTheBagChallenge, run polls, quizzes, and infographics on side hustles, investments, and “Rich Habits vs Broke Habits,” and post videos showing how to start a side hustle with as little as GH₵200.
The campaign aims to shift mindsets from “living paycheck to paycheck” to building sustainable wealth in the 20s and beyond.
