Ghanaian rapper and songwriter, Lalid has revealed that his song Matter has made strides beyond measure across Ghana after earning him two nominations at the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
The young rapper who is a nominee for Best New Artiste of The Year and Best Hiphop song of the Year with Matter, revealed in an interview on TV3 that the record in question was released long before its hit. “I had a song I was pushing way back that was like last year, that was Wise Man; Matter was dropped before that but it wasn’t going people were not paying attention to that.” he shared.
Despite the slow patronage at the beginning, Lalid indicated that the ‘Matter’ trend gained massive traction on TikTok, presenting him with a perfect opportunity to re-announce the record. “I was promoting Wise Man, along the line I realized people were using Matter on TikTok so I had to leave Wise Man and hop on the trend as well.”
Lalid touts the nominations “as everything to me at this stage of my career” and hopes to win at least one out of the two award nominations.
