Son of renowned preacher Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, Daniel Duncan-Williams, popularly known as Dee Wills, has revealed that his decision to pursue music did not come as a surprise to his father.
Speaking in an interview on GHOne TV, the musician reflected on a past moment where he shared a stage with celebrated Christian rapper Lecrae, describing it as the turning point that inspired him to seriously pursue music professionally. “While I performed one of Lecrae’s songs I saw how people were enthused and just happy with my performance and I told myself this what you are going to and this is how you are going to do it.”
According to Dee Wills, once he communicated his intentions to his father, he received full support and encouragement, something he believes gave him the confidence to fully commit to the journey. “My father has always supported me ever since. He has seen the end of the thing from the beginning and that’s how God works; God is able to let them see something about the matter. And so since AIS and even the talent shows I had while in America, my Dad will come and support me.”
Dee Wills noted that members of his family are musically intune and serve as a premise for his career choice. “My two sisters do music, My brother Joel is a bishop but he used to play the drums. Even my father, used to tell us about how he used to sing in the choir at church,” he shared.
