Prospectus Ghana CEO Jude Fosu Gyamfi and Communications Operations Manager Evelyn Sarpong have highlighted the company’s EduPack initiative as a new approach to helping SHS freshers prepare for boarding school while addressing hygiene concerns, including bedbug infestations.
They spoke during an interview on the Ryse and Shine Show with Brown Berry, where they explained how the EduPack provides students with essential boarding-school items and delivers them directly to their assigned schools.
Mr Gyamfi and Miss Sarpong explained that the initiative, developed by Prospectus Ghana in partnership with the Ghana Education Service, is intended to reduce the stress and cost parents face when preparing their children for SHS.
A major focus of the initiative is the replacement of traditional wooden chop boxes with plastic provision boxes.
The EduPack also includes a Mackintosh mattress with a cover and a covered pillow, which Prospectus Ghana says form part of its effort to promote better hygiene and help address the bedbug problem in boarding schools.
The standard package includes a plastic provision box, mattress and cover, pillow and cover, and a trunk or suitcase.
Students also receive free name labelling and a padlock, while the company provides free delivery to the student’s assigned school.

Rather than having parents transport the items to school themselves, the packages can be delivered and stored at the school’s warehouse until students report.
The complete package costs GH¢1,417, with a flexible payment option available for parents who may not be able to pay the full amount at once.
Payment can be made through ADB or the USSD platform *713*821#.
To register, students or their parents are required to provide the student’s Ghana Card details, full name and index number. After payment, the receipt is taken to the school to facilitate the package’s delivery and storage.
Prospectus Ghana says the initiative is open to families regardless of their financial background and is intended to make the transition from JHS to SHS more convenient for both students and parents.
