Serwaa Amoakohene: Finding The Person Called Me

There is no way this is going to work, I feel so lost, seems like everything is set up against me, I’m just wondering
through life. Not sure what the future holds. I’m so confused, clueless, disorganized, like I’m in a fog, walking in
circles, getting whipped. Everything seems hopeless.
Does this sound like someone you know? Speak to most of Ghana’s recent graduates and this is what you will
hear. What can one do in the face of high poverty coupled with high unemployment, political tensions,
corruption, inadequate resources and funds?
According to a United Nations’ report; Poverty has many dimensions, but its causes include unemployment,
social exclusion, and high vulnerability of certain population to disasters, diseases and other phenomena which
prevent them from being productive. 70% of the global total of extremely poor people live in Southern Asia and
sub-Saharan Africa. Here in Ghana and some other African countries, our culture and believes also plays a
major role in our perception of life and how we can and cannot rise.
Finding the Person Called Me (FTPCM) Affair is an initiative that seeks to equip individuals to rise above their
environment and their circumstance. Life can be very unfair and we don’t always get what we ask for, but we as
individuals do have a choice to some degree, the choice to let life happen to us or we happen to life. Take life as it
comes or strive to make the best of what life gives us.
FTPCM was developed by MamiSerwaa Amaokohene of 3Ps Solutions. A Ghanaian born social entrepreneur
who undertook a quest to help her friend uncover her strengths when she asked her two simple questions. “Do
you know your Strengths?” “How did you find it?”
FTPCM was the upshot of that quest. A sequential interactive program and practical guidebook & planner. In one
or three day courses, participants are taken on a methodical guided journey of rediscovery through a series of
personal reflections and interactive discussions. The program ends with participants drawing up a game plan
on how to actualize their new life with the new discoveries they have made.
Since it’s launched in February of 2016, FTPCM has since been taught at various organisations and seminars
including; Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International, Eagles Summit Africa at Zenith University and
has been adopted by the African Internship Academy (a TEDx Accra initiative).
Why Now?
The growing level of inequality, economic growth, instability, conflicts, stresses of modern life, the rise of a “me”
generation and break down of value systems has so many people searching for answers and meaning in life.
FTPCM hopes to be a guiding light in the journey of finding meaning and accomplishing “mighty works” and
being a major contributor to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals of ending poverty by 2030.
“Poverty of the mind is far worse than an impoverished economic standing. A mind rich with knowledge can
create a wealthy life but a poor mind will destroy the most privileged life” By Mike Wilson
Become a part of this movement of rediscovery and redirection. We seek organizations that want CHANGE in
