Sergio Ramos has had a few days to forget in his home city Seville as he headed into his own net five minutes from time before Stefan Jovetic’s brilliant stoppage time striker handed Sevilla victory breathed new life into the Spanish title race.
Cristiano Ronaldo looked set to be Madrid’s match winner once more as he matches Mexican great Hugo Sanchez’s record of 56 scored penalties in La Liga 23 minutes from time after Sevilla ‘keeper Sergio Rico wiped out Dani Carvajal.
Victory would have taken Madrid five points clear of Barcelona with a game in hand.
However, that lead now stands at just one point from Sevilla, as Ramos, so often Real’s hero with late goals, turned into his own net from Pablo Sarabia’s dipping free-kick.
And Sevilla then went on to win it as former Man City misfit Jovetic, who also netted on his debut against Madrid in the Cup in midweek, curled home a brilliant winner.
