Ghana’s biggest dancehall export, Shatta Wale has received his award for the 2016 WatsUp TV Africa Music Video Awards for the Best African Dancehall/Reggae Video with his hit single Chop Kiss.
In a special awards presentation ceremony hosted on the leading pan-African Entertainment Show, WatsUp TV, Shatta Wale extended his appreciation to all fans who voted for him to pick the best Dancehall/Raggae Video of the Year.
As the only Ghanaian Musician who was announced to have won an award from the first edition of the WatsUp TV Africa Music Video Awards, he shares the same accolade with other notable 2016 co-winners, Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania), Desiigner (USA), Mr. Eazi (Nigeria), Scientific (Liberia), DJ Arafat (Cote D’Ivorire), Beyonce (USA) etc.
Liberian Music Star, Scientific who also won the Best Afro Pop Video also got the opportunity to receive the awards from WatsUp TV CEO, Abd Traore.
WatsUp TV Africa Music Video Awards (commonly abbreviated as a WAMVA) is an annual award presented by the TV channel WatsUp TV to honor the best in the African music videos scene. The award was launched in Accra, Ghana in September coupled with the announcement of Nominees across 20 categories.
WAMVA honours Anglophone and the Francophone artists from the Africa music video medium, On 28 December, winners of the maiden edition were announced in Accra ahead of a Made in Africa concert to be hosted in 2017 which will feature all winners.
