Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic has ‘revealed’ exactly what Jose Mourinho wrote to him in a mid-game note against Chelsea.
When Eric Bailly came on as a substitute in the latter stages, he handed the Serb a note from manager Jose Mourinho, which Willian then tried to sneakily read.
Exactly what the note said has since remained a tightly-kept secret with United narrowly holding onto their lead… or has it?
Matic took to Instagram on Monday with a smile on his face, claiming that Mourinho’s note was actually telling him he could have three days off after the game.
Alongside a smiley emoji, Matic posted a picture of the ‘note’, which reads: ‘You have 3 days off :)’
It is unclear whether the United midfielder is joking or has actually revealed a light-hearted side to Jose Mourinho, but the players are indeed expected to have been given Monday off to rest and recuperate.
Sunday’s victory over Chelsea could have had a huge say in their Premier League position come May, with three points keeping them clear in second place.
Mourinho’s men are unlikely to catch Manchester City, but they now have a two-point gap over third-placed Liverpool, and have six points breathing space between them and fifth-placed Chelsea.
Next up for United is a trip to Crystal Palace on Monday March 5… eight days after their Chelsea victory.
