Upcoming Ghanaian musician, Martins Morgan popularly known as “Lord Morgan” has taken a swipe at Ghanaian disc jockeys (DJs) who allegedly want their palms greased before playing songs of artistes.
According to the “Ayalolo” hitmaker, such disgraceful acts shouldn’t be tolerated in the country because they degrade the reputation gained by other hardworking and clean DJ’s.
Lord Morgan noted that the negligent and selfish payola-tradition will damage the careers of musicians who do not possess the financial muscle to pay.
He has, however, asked DJs who collect funds from upcoming artiste to fulfill their part of the bargain.
The emotionally charged Morgan who sounded like a victim of a payola syndrome has asked DJs whose names he did not mention to get his music played or he resorts to the court to get his grievances addressed.
Asked if he has been a victim, he answered in the affirmative, saying “we pay them by harking to their demands in doing business but they take us for granted. We respect their job but they play with our talents, it is not a good thing for upcoming artistes…” Morgan maintained.
Morgan, however failed to mention the names of DJs who took his money but failed to fulfill their parts of the bargain.
He has, however promised to mention the names of such journalist if they fail to play his songs.
He applauded bloggers in the country for their ultimate support in pushing the industry forward.
Lord Morgan has been rated one of the best budding Reggae Dancehall (Versatile) artistes in Ghana after his first single entitled ‘AYALOLO’ featuring Jupiter, made waves in the public.
