Mohamed Salah has not been offered to Barcelona despite reports in Spain, his agent Ramy Abbas has said.
Salah is one of the world’s most in-demand footballers after scoring 44 goals in an incredible first season at Liverpool, helping his team reach the Champions Leaguefinal.
As a result, he has been linked with a big-money move this summer, with Barcelona among those said to be interested.
Spanish newspaper AS reported that Salah is seen as a possible alternative to Antoine Griezmann by Barca bosses if they cannot get a deal for the Atletico Madrid striker over the line.
They claimed Salah had been offered to the Nou Camp club by his representatives and that negotiations would start shortly.
However that has been comprehensively denied by Abbas, who quoted the story on Twitter along with the caption: ‘This never happened.’
The Egyptian agent enacted a final twist of the knife on AS’s story with the cutting claim that ‘you need better sources.’
Salah has been in Spain, however that was to get treatment on a shoulder injury suffered in the Champions League final.
He went off in the first half after a clash with Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos, and now faces a race to be fit in time to play for Egypt at the World Cup.
Egypt, who are competing at the tournament for the first time since 1990, have pinned their hopes on national hero Salah.
