Stonebwoy arrived back in Accra on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 5, 2018 – he had a ribald welcome from his BhimNation Fans and other music lovers at the Kotoka International Airport.
On the highlights of his performance at the “Best Of The Best” Concert, this was what Stonebwoy had to say…. “It’s a big privilege for me to be the first African to play at the Best of the Best Concert (2018), history has been made and the bar has been broken. And I’m expecting more of us (Ghanaian & African Artistes) to flood in and merge. It has been the dream for us to connect the musician genres – the Afrobeats, Reggae, Dancehall, Hiphop etc. Through my research I’ve been able to find out that even Hiphop was founded by a Jamaican; and all of these can trace their roots to Africa. So we should be able to broaden our minds to take the music from African to the world as well”.
Stonebwoy after the “Best of the Best” Concert in Miami also played another major concert in UK (One Africa Music Festival 2018), with Sarkodie and other African Artistes.
“Best of the Best” Concert is a Jamaican inspired concert that stages every year in May, in Miami, USA. It pulls together the crème-de-la-crème of Caribbean Musicians who’ve made global waves within the past year and or have made some incredible moves in the Reggae/Dancehall genre in history. This year had Stonebwoy as the first Ghanaian/African Artiste gracing the stage. “Best of the Best” Concert has been running for the past 12 years.
Stonebwoy is headline artiste for this year’s “Ghana Meets Naija” Concert in Ghana; happening this weekend at the Fantasy Dome at Trade Fair. He later returns to Europe for other major international shows Summerjam 2018 (Germany), Reggae Sumfest 2018 (Jamaica), Reggae Geel 2018 (Belgium) in July and August respectively.
He has become a global music icon after winning “Artiste of the Year” at Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2015 and “Best African Act: International” at the BET 2015 amidst further nominations in both awards subsequently.
