Former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi, has vowed to fight corruption allegations against him following the investigative documentary by Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
Mr Nyantakyi has responded to all the allegations in a press statement, painstakingly explaining what he says is his side of the story in the matter that resulted in his suspension from the world football governing body, FIFA.
Police have charged him with defrauding by false pretence after the exposé on grounds that he allegedly used the names of President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to extort money from some investors.
“I did not receive any monies for myself or on behalf of the President, the Vice President or any other senior Government official. Let me also clarify that H.E the President, H.E. the Vice President, Ministers and Deputy Ministers and Senior Government Officials had no prior knowledge or subsequent knowledge of all the discussions contained in the video,” he said in the release.

He wants Anas to release the unedited video devoid commentary to the Ghanaian public because the public is capable of forming the right conclusion after seeing a full video.
Before concluding the release, Mr Nyanktakyi states “…there was a demand on me through a third party to part with $150k [$150,000] for Anas to drop the videos on me. I didn’t have the said amount of money to meet his demand.”.
He added: “I assure all my friends and loved ones that I am determined to deal with this matter in accordance with the law as well as the most ethical and professional standards,” he said.
We publish below Mr Nyanktakyi’s responses to all the allegations of wrongdoing and underhand dealing which the video documentary made against him.
