MO SALAH failed to celebrate his goal against Napoli — but for what reason?
Football fans have been left baffled after the Liverpool star once again put on a blank face following similar scenes against Bournemouth at the weekend, resulting in a friendly slap from team-mate Roberto Firmino.
Salah’s goal at Anfield was enough to earn Liverpool a crucial 1-0 win over Napoli, booking his side’s place in the Champions League knockout rounds.
But he showed no emotion as he wheeled towards the fans, seeming to soak in their tears of joy.
And some people think Salah is reacting to criticism from earlier in the season when he was failing to replicate last term’s incredible goal haul.
The Egyptian netted 44 times in all competitions last season, but he appears to be back in form after hitting the target 13 times in the current campaign.
Football fans flocked to Twitter to have their say, with one writing: “Salah’s muted goal celebration against Bournemouth and Napoli was like ‘you really thought I was a one-season wonder?’”
Another said: “I think that might be Salah’s new celebration! No smile but looking at the crowd and basically saying ‘What was that? One season wonder?!’”
One noted: “Anyone else think Salah’s lack of celebration is because Klopp has told him it’s time to get angry after the final last season?”
Another added: “Geez, Salah’s celebration was -50 degrees.”
