Mohamed Salah Museum To Open In Egypt

Mohamed Salah, Liverpool forward and – to be frank – a god to many in Egypt, will soon have his history and achievements on show to the public in his home country.
The African sensation will be honoured with the ‘Mohamed Salah Sports Center’ at the Gezira Youth Center in Cairo, courtesy of the Egyptian government.

Commemorating a 26-year-old who still – hopefully – has many years left at the top might seem a strange decision, but the nippy Liverpool forward is already breaking records and earning accolades, both domestic and international.
He is Egypt’s all-time highest scorer in the African Cup of Nations and joint highest in World Cup finals – as well earning the title of most goals scored in a single Premier League season.
Salah was crowned BBC African Player of the Year for 2018; his second in a row. He beat Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane, Ghana’s Thomas Partey and Serie A defenders Medhi Benatia and Kalidou Koulibaly.
Egypt’s Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhy revealed plans to open the museum following the achievement. The museum will feature some of the sports-star’s belongings and pictures highlighting key moments of his career so far.
It’s no surprise to see Salah’s home nation display their pride in the Premier League star, but it’s been a different story with Egyptian football F.A.
He recently deleted his Facebook and Twitter pages, with some citing his recent fall-out with his country’s football body to blame.
Salah has been embroiled in an image rights since April last year after his face was used to promote the national team’s official telecommunication sponsor WE – despite the player having a personal deal with Vodafone.
But away from that, Salah is a hero to many across Egypt and his museum will no-doubt attract a serious crowd.
Which sporting icon would you like to see have their own museum? Let us know in the comments.
