Vincent Kompany To Donate Season Of Pay To Helping The Homeless

Manchester City captain and all-round good guy Vincent Kompany will donate proceeds from his testimonial season to try and help the homeless in Manchester.
Kompany, who joined the club in 2008, has teamed up with Andy Burnham, the major of Manchester, to launch a campaign to tackle rough sleeping in the city.
“I’ve received much from Manchester – a great career at the highest level, unconditional support from the fans through thick and thin, a lovely family and so much more to be grateful for.” Kompany said.
“Over the past decade I’ve been lucky to have witnessed and played a part in Manchester City’s rise as a club and a brand. This has also run parallel alongside the rise of a whole region.
The defender went on to speak about the Tackle4MCR movement that will help the homeless in Manchester:
“However, with this spectacular rise comes a very visible downside.” he said via ITV.
“More and more people are left out of and have no access to the benefits of the rapid development, often leaving them no choice but to end up on the streets.
“And this is why our mayor Andy Burnham and I have launched Tackle4MCR, a movement that will stand on its own feet and one that can be successful, if everyone plays a part.”
The defender also raised £216,000 for good causes at his testimonial dinner on Tuesday night, with Gary Lineker paying £13k for one of his shirts.
Lineker then handed the jersey straight back to Kompany in a brilliant gesture. The money raised will go towards the mayor’s Bed Every Night scheme.
A great gesture from the Belgian centre-back, who will have his gala match at the Etihad stadium at the end of the season.
