N’Golo Kante claims even if Zinedine Zidane calls him up to try and persuade him to sign for Real Madrid he’ll remain focused on staying at Chelsea.
The World Cup winner is currently on France international duty where he was asked to comment on speculation linking him to the Spanish heavyweights.
Kante is a Real Madrid target and the club are set to spend big this summer as Zidane looks to rebuild Los Blancos after what has been a very disappointing season by their usual high standards.
But Kante suggested he would turn down a move to Madrid – even if France legend Zidane picked up the phone and tried to convince him otherwise.
“Today I’m still at Chelsea and what is said elsewhere is not important,” said Kante. “Even if Zidane calls me, It’s not important, I’m at Chelsea today and I’m focused on that.”
Kante isn’t the only Frenchman who has been asked to comment on Real Madrid speculation during the international break.
Manchester United’s Paul Pogba was also asked to address the transfer rumours linking him to the Bernabeu, but failed to squash speculation in the same way as Kante.
“Like I’ve always said, Real Madrid is a dream for anyone. It’s one of the biggest clubs in the world,” said Pogba.
“There is also [Zinedine] Zidane as a coach and it’s a dream for anybody who likes football. For now, I’m at Manchester. We don’t know what the future holds. I’m at Manchester and I’m happy.”
