Atlético Madrid CEO Miguel Ángel Gil Marín has confirmed that Antoine Griezmann will sign for Barcelona this summer.
“I am very clear about where he is going to play — it is known since March — at Barcelona,” he told Radioestadio (via Sport).
The Atlético superstar announced that he would leave his side at the end of the season and the La Liga champions have been the favourites to land him this summer.
But Griezmann did suggest that he was unsure about his future while he was on international duty with France.
“It is always a wonderful thing to play for the national team, we all enjoy it, not everyone can live this experience and we are proud to represent France.”
His move to Barcelona might be on hold as the Spanish club waits for his release clause to drop from €200m to €120m on 1st July.
Barcelona, who were eying up Valencia’s Rodrigo as a potential alternative, have been keen to land the World Cup winner since last summer.
And manager Ernesto Valverde has not hidden the fact that the club wanted to sign him from Los Rojiblancos.
The Barça boss admitted ahead of the Copa del Rey final last month that talks were ongoing over Griezmann.
“It is correct that contact has been made over this deal, and this is ongoing,” he said at the time.
But Valverde went on to say that a deal would not happen before the end of the season.
