Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola reportedly lost his cool with David Silva, accusing hi of not running enough.
City are now eight points behind Premier league leaders Liverpool following their 2-0 defeat at home to Wolves on Sunday.
While it is still early in the season, the shock result put the title initiative firmly in Liverpool’s hands, with Jurgen Klopp’s men having won eight games from eight in the league so far this season.
Against Wolves, City’s centre-back pairing of Nicolas Otameni and Fernandinho was undone by the pace of Adama Traore, who scored both Wolves goals on the counter-attack.
And City’s woes have been largely attributed to the loss of Aymeric Laporte to injury, with John Stones joining his fellow centre-half on the sidelines shortly after the Frenchman was crocked.
However, cracks were starting to show even before that – with club legend Silva having been given a rollicking by City boss Guardiola after a 12-minute appearance against Tottenham, according to the Mail .
According to the Mail, the City boss said: “David, you didn’t give us enough running. Where were the legs?”
Silva, 33, is due to leave the club at the end of this season, with his status as one of City’s greatest ever players guaranteed.
However, he and his team-mates have a lot of work ahead of them if he is to follow in Vincent Kompany’s footsteps by ending his time at the club as a Premier League champion.
