Philippe Coutinho has been told he can leave Barcelona for a cut-price, according to reports.
The claim comes amid reports Liverpool have opened the door to the Brazilian returning to Anfield, two years on from his sensational £142million move to Barcelona in 2018.
The Catalan giants are looking to head in a new direction under boss Quique Setien, and Coutinho, who is currently on loan at Bayern Munich, doesn’t appear to be in the Spaniard’s plans.
Bayern Munich have the option to sign Coutinho permanently at the end of the season, but reports in Germany suggest the Bundesliga giants have no plans to do this when the transfer window opens.
According to Express Sport, Coutinho could be available to sign for as little as £77million, which is set to attract much Premier League interest.
If Liverpool re-signed Coutinho for this amount they will profit £65million from selling and buying back the 27-year-old Brazil international.
Kai Havertz is reportedly Liverpool’s number one target in the summer, but should Liverpool find themselves priced out of a deal for the midfielder they could turn to Coutinho.
Former Liverpool midfielder Steve McManaman recently advised the Reds to re-sign Coutinho.
McManaman told HorseRacing.net:“It could be that they opt to bring a certain Philippe Coutinho back to the club. I wouldn’t mind seeing Coutinho back. He’s a brilliant player but a lot of it is just down to economics.”
