Liverpool Star Backed To Beat Ronaldo & Messi To Ballon d’Or

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have dominated the Ballon d’Or award ceremony in recent years, but a Liverpool star has now been backed to get his hands on the accolade in the future.
Messi walked away with a record sixth Ballon d’Or crown at the 2019 awards ceremony in December when he beat off competition from long-time rival Ronaldo and Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk.
The Argentina superstar could face new competition in the coming years, however, after Reds starlet Trent Alexander-Arnold received the backing of two-time FIFA World Cup winner Cafu.
The 21-year-old ranked 19th at the 2019 ceremony – the highest of any player in his position – and could go all the way and challenge for the award in future, according to the Brazil legend.
