After claiming the most prestigious award at the 2020 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs), Ghanaian Highlife singer and songwriter Kuami Eugene is aiming for the stars.
The Lynx Entertainment signee has stated that he is targeting international awards schemes such as the BET and Grammy Awards.
Having won Best New Artiste of the year at the 2018 VGMAs, received the Most Promising Artiste in Africa award from AFRIMA and the Artiste of the year award at the 2020 VGMAs, Kuami Eugene hopes to go beyond the Ghanaian borders.
Kuami’s wish is to have his face on billboards at Times Square and play shows at the 02 Arena and PlayStation Theatre.
In an interview on YFM’s drive time show, Kuami Eugene indicated that the release of his upcoming album, Son of Africa, is a stepping stone to reach a global audience. Kuami’s upcoming album features collaborations with several international stars, including Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo, Nigeria’s Falz, and Zlatan.
Having worked with Nigerian stars Davido and Joeboy in the past, the Open Gate hitmaker told Kojo Manuel that he would love to work with British rappers Stormzy and Santan Dave, British singer Ed Sheeran and Canadian star Justin Bieber in the nearest future.
