Music was just a backup plan for me-Joeboy

Nigerian Afropop/ RnB singer and songwriter, Joseph Akinwale Akinfenwa, widely recognized as Joeboy, has disclosed that music was initially just a backup plan in life for him.
The singer, who is now known internationally for his great musical skill and dope songs, confessed that he always wanted to be a banker, hence even though he knew he had the musical talent, he was only singing for fun.
He told Rev. Erskine during a live studio interview on Y107.9FM’s Myd-Morning Radio Show that, “Music was like a backup plan that I really hoped would work because I remember I used to imagine myself working in a bank and I used to have anxiety.
I’m not saying that working in the bank is bad but I just didn’t feel like it was something I was going to enjoy. I felt like I didn’t have a choice so I decided to start making my music, doing covers and thankfully, it picked up”, he said.
According to Joeboy, he was only doing music for fun, not exactly bothered about whether or not it would work out, and he did not see himself coming this far this soon.
Joeboy has only been a little over a year in the music industry after being discovered by Mr. Eazi’s Empawa Africa talent incubator and he is already a world best and chart-topper.
He has been featured by CNN, OkayAfrica, Billboard, just to mention a few, and has over 250 million streams on his music with songs like ‘Beginning’, ‘Don’t call me back’, ‘Baby’, and the biggest Coronavirus lockdown jam ‘Nobody’, among others, topping charts internationally.
