Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications, Kenneth Ashigbey has advised the youth to take advantage of apprenticeship to learn from great leaders as it will equip them with the necessary skills for the future.
In an interview with Rev. Erskine on the Y Leaderboard series, Ken Ashigbey emphasized the importance of apprenticeship when he related his own example of how he learnt from great leaders and eventually became successful in the media space.
“Anybody I reach out to, I try to learn a thing or two from and one advise I give to young people is the importantance of apprenticeship. Mentorship is very important as well. I did not go to school to study communication, journalism or media management but I learnt that as an apprentice at the feet of people who really have done great things and were in the process of doing it and doing it well”.
Even as a leader, Kenneth revealed that he still looks up to many other great leaders; some he had not even met in his life. “I look to Christ. Mandela is definitely one of my role models. Nkrumah is greater than Mandela for me. I look to people like Bob Marley. I also take inspiration from my mother. All the guys I have worked with especially Kwesi Twum who was my boss in Multimedia I still go back to ask for direction”.
Kenneth Ashigbey is the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Telecommunications Chamber.
Prior to his appointment, he was Managing Director of Graphic Communications Group Ltd. Before then, he was the Chief Operating Officer for Multi TV, General Manager of Joy Fm as well as the Chief Technology Officer of the Multimedia Group, in Ghana, at different times.
