 Representative of Asamoah Gyan, Samuel Anim Addo has expatiated reports that there is a possibility his client will hang up his boots from football after AFCON 2019.Reports went widespread in the media on Thursday that, Mr. Addo, who doubles as the CEO of the Asamoah Gyan Foundation, suggested that the former Sunderland marksman is likely to call time on his career after the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
However, expounding on the reports during an interview with Ohene Bampoe–Brenya on Happy FM‘s Anopa Bosuo Sports, Mr. Addo stated that, “I granted an interview to one radio station when talking about the national team and I stated that Asamoah Gyan is likely to stop playing international team after the AFCON 2019 not football in general.”
“There’s a huge difference between retiring from international football and football in general. I expect journalists to know better.”
“People always attack Asamoah Gyan when they want to get traffic to their website which is very sad. We couldn’t let go of the story because it’s very sensitive. Gyan’s reaction is very necessary.”
“Such stories are likely to affect Gyan’s career. What if a club wants to sign him in the near future and then they see this story? Journalists should stop this kind of journalism practice.”
Asamoah Gyan in a tweet also wrote;

“You people are not even credible again. What kind nonsense is this? You people should your informations right. I won’t tolerate this nonsense from you anymore. Smh”

The 32-year-old had a troubled campaign at Kayserispor last season, where he struggled with fitness and form and was largely inactive for the club – scoring just once in nine appearances last term.
The Ghana’s all-time top scorer’s dark days seemed to be over after he was declared fit before commencement of the ongoing campaign, but has settled for a bench role in their first two league games.
But his lack of game time at Kayserispor prompted Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah to leave him out of his 18-man squad for next month’s Africa Cup of Nation’s qualifier against the Harambee Stars of Kenya.
