John Batigi netted a hattrick in just 35 minutes as Cheetah FC blitzed Academie Avorie Pro in the ongoing BabyJet U16 Tournament in Accra.
The Cheetah FC striker took advantage of shocking defending to fire three angled shots past Academie Avorie Pro goalkeeper in the 17th, 22nd and 39th minutes.
Cheetah FC dropped the pace in the second period but still faced little resistance from an untidy Academie Avorie Pro side who did not manage a shot on target throughout the 90 minutes.
The game will be remembered largely for the brilliant finishing that brought the young striker John Batigi his first international hattrick.
“I’m delighted and emotional,” he said. “One has to make a lot of sacrifices to get here and it’s not every day that you score three goals in a match.”
The result was Academie Avorie Pro’s heaviest defeat in the ongoing tournament.
John Batigi in the second match scored a goal against Bolga Soccer Masters to qualify his group from group B.
Baby Jet U-16 tournament was set up by Ghana’s all-time top scorer Asamoah Gyan, to find the best talents at the under-16 level.
