BBC's Top Earners Revealed

As a football society we’ve started becoming obsessed with just how much transfers cost and how much players earn on the back of those transfers. Now it seems we’re interested in what our presenters earn.
Football is big business, tell us something we don’t know right! Last year Watford were the lowest spenders on wages in the Premier League, giving their players ‘just’ £58 million with Manchester United at the other end splashing out £232 million.

Even football punditry is big business these days with the ‘signings’ of Thierry Henry and Gary Neville for Sky Sports in recent years almost given the full Jim White on transfer deadline day, there was definitely yellow ticker tape.

Henry is reportedly on £4 million a year whilst Neville takes home £1.2 million, or at least that was the reported case back when the Frenchman first signed on.
Now the BBC’s wages have been revealed today with the disparity between men and women’s pay the big talking point. In the footballing sphere though the big news was Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer being in the top 10.

Match of the Day presenter Lineker is on £1.75 million- £1.79 million a year and is the Beeb’s second top earner behind Chris Evans with pundit Shearer down in in ninth on £400,000 – £449,999 a year.
Shearer came in with his fair share of criticism on Twitter as everyone decided to be outraged by how much BBC talent gets paid, half of them missing the point about gender disparity.
Elsewhere in sport Sue Barker is the highest paid woman on £300,000 – £349,000, Gabby Logan is on £200,000 – £249,999, John Inverdale on £200,000 – £249,999, John McEnroe on £150,000 – £199,999 and Clare Balding on £150,000 – £199,999 a year.
BBC breakfast host Dan Walker came under criticism for being on £100k more than his co-host Louise Minchin but the Football Focus host revealed that it’s because of his extra Saturday morning duties.
Sure BBC presenters get paid a lot but it’s not that much compared to people working in their industry!
