Despite barely breaking a sweat, Benjamin Mendy has had an unbelievable year in football.
Having suffered two serious knee injuries since making the move from Monaco in 2017 – the French left-back has made just 22 appearances in all competitions for club and country in the last year.
But remarkably, Mendy has managed to collect a staggering SIX trophies in that time. He’s won back-to-back Premier Leagues, two Carabao Cups, the Community Shield and the World Cup – playing just 40 minutes in Russia as Les Bleus won their second World Cup.
He averages a trophy nearly every three-and-a-half games, and of course, the social media champion produced some top content on social media once again.
The leader of the Shark Team is well aware that he’s lucky to be living his best life too – as shown in his tweet after completing a rare 90 minutes in the Community Shield win over Chelsea in August.
Mendy wasn’t in Brighton for yesterday’s title party as he is in Barcelona for treatment on his knee but is entitled to a winners’ medal having made 10 appearances in the Premier League this term, the same amount he managed last season.
He could also finish the season with an unprecedented domestic treble if City beat Watford in next week’s FA Cup final at Wembley.
