Planeteers around the world are ready to take Blue Climate Action — working to protect and restore the oceans, lakes, and water bodies that support communities and our planet. As part of our work in accelerating known climate solutions, the Planeteer Alliance is excited to host the Blue Climate Action Summit Series, which will be held around the world the last weekend of July.
The Blue Climate Action Summit Series is a collaboration of the Planeteer Alliance and the Nam Lolwe Youth Summit (NALYS) team. NALYS was founded in 2021 by three Planeteers — Michelle (17) & Jeremy Muchilwa (14), founders of Osiepe Sango, and Diego Arreola Fernandez (20) the founder of Green Speaking — with the goal of reconnecting young people to their natural spaces and empowering them to take action to preserve natural resources like Lake Victoria (Nam Lolwe being the native name of the lake).
Teams from 9 different locations around the globe will come together for in-person Summits, with Planeteer Alliance hosting a global virtual summit over the weekend to celebrate the significance of water in our communities, explore the pressures faced by these waters, and develop Blue Climate Action Plans to tackle some of these challenges over the next year.
The 9 locations for Blue Climate Action Summit Series include:
- Sydney, Australia
- New Delhi, India
- Kingston, Jamaica
- Kisumu, Kenya
- Nairobi, Kenya
- Mérida, Mexico
- Lagos, Nigeria
- Lima, Peru
- Kings Beach, USA
