An Accra Circuit court has remanded controversial Ghanaian boxer and former Light Heavyweight Champion Braimah Kamoko nicknamed Bukom Banku and his son for allegedly assaulting a man.
According to reports, on November 25, 2022, the boxer allegedly hurt Ishmael Neequaye during a brawl in Bukom.
Ishmael Neequaye, the victim and a neighbour, admitted that the nearby noise had awakened him. He admitted he made an effort to settle things down.
But according to the prosecutor, Bukom Banku broke a bottle and gave it to his son Mustapha to stab Ishamel Neequaye after spotting the complainant. The complaint was transported to the Korle Bu teaching hospital when the son of Bukom shoved the broken bottle into his abdomen.
According to reports, the police attempted to apprehend Bukom Banku and his son on multiple occasions, but all of their efforts were in vain. The two were arrested, though, after receiving a summons for a criminal offence.
Justice Adelaide Abui Keddey, the presiding court, rejected the two’s request for bail despite their pleas of innocence.
The boxer and his son have been placed on detention and will appear in court again on Monday, December 19. The third suspect, 32-year-old Prosper Quaye, is currently at large.
