The president of the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF), Dr. Patrice Motsepe, is scheduled to visit Senegal on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, as confirmed by his office.
During this working visit, Motsepe will meet with Senegalese Head of State, His Excellency Bassirou Diomaye Faye, as well as Mr. Abdoulaye Fall from the Fédération Sénégalaise de Football.
While the specific purpose and details of the visit have not yet been disclosed by CAF, it is anticipated that it will be related to the recent Appeals Jury decision that revoked Senegal’s AFCON 2025 title.
Regarding the CAF decision, on March 17, CAF awarded a 3-0 victory to Morocco following a ruling by its Appeal Jury concerning the AFCON final in which Senegal initially claimed a 1-0 victory over Morocco.
CAF upheld an appeal from the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF) regarding the match. The Appeal Jury accepted Morocco’s appeal and overturned a prior ruling made by CAF’s Disciplinary Jury. According to CAF’s statement, this reversal was based on procedural issues, specifically noting that Morocco’s right to be heard was not respected during the initial hearings.
In response to this decision, Senegal has filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sports.
