Cameroonian singer and songwriter, Salatiel is in Ghana to connect with Ghana’s music industry stakeholders.
The award-winning musician and producer after a short press gathering released the visuals of his first single off his upcoming album titled, ‘Africa Represented’ at True Note Lounge at Lizzy Sports Complex on Sunday.
The feel-good record titled ‘Ayagayo’ comes after clocking a huge international music collaboration with Beyonce and Pharrell in ‘Water’, off Beyonce’s ‘The Lion King: The Gift’ album.
‘Ayagayo’ is a Jamaican word which means Good Times, which comes as the first official single to come out of his forthcoming album, ‘Africa Represented’.
Salatiel who is currently in Ghana for a major music and media tour revealed “In 2019, I realized I was so focused on producing a lot and giving very little attention to my career. I was laying down the grown work for Cameroonian music but to thrive I decided to put my name out there more and so in 2019, I tried to make a lot happen. I won an AFRIMA Awards, then followed with the biggest single in Cameroon titled ‘Anita and I also won 10 different awards. I also got to work on ‘Water’ with Beyonce and Pharrel.”
‘Ayagayo’ simply means Good Times and embodies a colorful and soulful vibe. One thing noticed about the song is that Salatiel went back to fully delivering in the English language, something he hasn’t done in his previous releases and will be easy for the Ghanaian music listener to connect with.
The song carries good messages like, “Good times don’t come easy. But they do eventually…”. It’s an electro sound mixed with the Afrobeat which could do very well in the world music market.
“I decided to cross borders this year. I started touring Europe and now I want to tour Africa and connect because charity begins at home. The plan is to connect with other African artists so we become a united front and face the world with our sound and craft.” Salatiel told the press.
Salatiel after premiering the video at True Note Lounge revealed the visuals were directed by South AfricJustin Campos.
