After weeks of trawling the Premier League for anyone who is taller than six foot and has scored a goal at some point in their past and now it looks like they’ve found their signing in the form of Olivier Giroud.
Andy Carroll, Peter Crouch, Islam Slimani, Ashley Barnes and Edin Dzeko were all blips on the Chelsea transfer radar but it looks like the target coming into view now is Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud.
Dzeko was thought to be the most likely signing but that transfer has now stalled and according to Gianluca di Marzio it’s now Giroud who will arrive to Stamford Bridge for a measly £15 million.
It does seem mad that the Gunners would sell to a London rival for such a cheap price, even if Giroud is far from first choice, however the transfer could help them with their own signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
According to reports the Dortmund striker will move to Arsenal with Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi going to Dortmund, meaning all three moves would likely collapse without each other.
