After Will Smith’s slap at the Oscars ceremony in Los Angeles last year, Chris Rock went to an Oscars viewing party in Florida on Sunday.
The Xeomin and Vanity Fair viewing party was held at The Four Seasons Hotel in Miami’s Surfside neighbourhood, and the 58-year-old comedian was seen there.
Rock dressed casually for the viewing party away from the Hollywood event, donning a plain white jumper, black slacks, a black cap, and sunglasses.
Whitney Cummings, a 40-year-old fellow comic, greeted Rock when he arrived and gave him a big embrace.
Standing next to Whitney, who was hosting the party Rock grinned.
Smith, 54, walked onstage and slapped Rock last March during the 94th Academy Awards in Hollywood after he cracked a joke about Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith, 51.
The infamous slap marred the awards ceremony and Smith was banned from attending the Oscars for 10 years.
Smith as part of his banishment was forced to give up the honor of presenting the Best Actor award at this year’s ceremony after winning Best Actor last year for King Richard, which he accepted after slapping Rock.
Oscar winners Jessica Chastain, 45, and Halle Berry, 56, instead presented the award for Best Actor in a Leading Role, which was won by Brendan Fraser, 54, for his work in The Whale.
The infamous slap dominated the jokes made at this year’s awards ceremony.
‘If any of you get mad at a joke and decide you want to get jiggy with it – it’s not going to be easy,’ vowed host Jimmy Kimmel, referring to a classic line from one of Smith’s hit songs.
Kimmel joked that any hypothetical perpetrator would have to get past a bevy of superheroes in the audience, including the Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal), Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield), and ‘the Fabel…man’ (Steven Spielberg).
‘There will be no nonsense tonight. We have no time for shenanigans,’ Kimmel said.
