Coronavirus and sports: Happy FM set to hold a virtual forum to discuss effects of COVID-19 on Sports

Happy 98.9 FM, the number one radio station that supports sports is set to host a knowledge-sharing forum titled ‘The Effects of COVID-19 on Sports’.
‘The Effects of COVID-19 on Sports’ which will be held via zoom, seeks to bring together key resource persons in the sports fraternity to discuss the challenges the sports industry is faced with as the coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to ripple through the world’s health, educational, financial, commercial institutions, and most importantly the sports ecosystem in Ghana.
The Special guest of honour is Isaac Kwame Asiamah the Minister for Youth and Sports and Member of Parliament (MP) of Atwima Mponua constituency.
The forum will be moderated by Happy FM’s Ohene Bampoe Brenya and will be carried live on Happy FM, e.TV Ghana,  Ghana Television (GTV)  and on all GMABC platforms on social media.  The panel discussions which will cover topics like the potential long-term impact on sports and professional sporting activities in Ghana, challenges for sports businesses in Ghana, the role of sports in our shared recovery among others is on Wednesday, May 13 from 9:00am to 11:00am.
Other distinguished persons who will be part of the panel are the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt E.S. Okraku, Kwabena Yeboah veteran sports journalist and Editor of African Sports newspaper, Ben Nunoo Mensah, Insurance Broker and Businessman, CEO of Directline Risk Consult and Barari DV Ghana Ltd., and Alex Kofi Agyeman the MP for Mpohor constituency and the Chairman of the parliamentary select committee for sports and culture.
Explaining the objective of the forum, Programmes Manager of Happy FM, Emmanuel Akrumah said: ‘’The non-stop sports entertainment we’ve come to expect has come to a halt. This forum will try to figure out the various downstream impacts of the pandemic on club owners, broadcasters, and advertisers; while also considering new technologies and channels to help engage fans during suspended or modified league operations.
