Forbes just released its World’s Highest-Paid Musicians of 2016 list, and some of hip-hop’s heavyweights make the cut. Diddy, Jay Z, The Weeknd, Drake and Dr. Dre are all in the Top 30.
You can scroll through the above gallery to view the details. Diddy is the only hip-hop artist to crack the Top 10, as the Bad Boy CEO comes in at No. 10 with an estimated $62 million for the year. The Weeknd comes in at No. 15 with $55 million, tying U2.
Meanwhile, Hov raked in a whopping $53.5 million, which is good for No. 18 on the list. Drake and Dr. Dre round out the rap genre representers for Forbes’ Top 30, boasting $41 million (No. 25, tied with Katy Perry) and $38.5 million (No.30), respectively.
All of these artists have passions in things other than music, which helped catapult them into the mix of highest paid musicians of 2016. For example, Diddy has his Ciroc vodka deal, Jay Z has his Armand de Brignac, D’Ussé and Roc Nation businesses, and Dr. Dre – in addition to dropping his first album in years – cashed in on Apple’s Beats by Dre buyout.
The Top 5 doesn’t include any rappers. Taylor Swift tops the list with an insane $170 million on the year, followed by One Direction with $110 million. Adele comes in at No. 3 with $80.5 million, and Madonna pulled in $76 million for No. 4. Rihanna rounds out the Top 5, finishing with $75 million in 2016. Jay’s wife, Beyoncé, lands at No. 17 with $54 million on the year.
