Diego Maradona has taken to Facebook to tell fans he’s ‘fine’ after he was given medical treatment during Argentina’s match against Nigeria last night.
The football legend watched his team beat Nigeria 2-1 in St Petersburg, but was treated by a doctor during the game.
“At half-time of the game against Nigeria, my neck hurt a lot and I suffered a decompensation.
“I was checked by a doctor and he recommended that I leave before the second half, but I wanted to stay because we were playing for everything. How could I leave?
“I send a kiss to everyone. Thanks for the support.”
The status has been liked over 66,000 since he shared it this morning.
Fans were left worrying about the condition of the 57-year-old after a clip of him having to be helped up some stairs at the stadium was posted online. In the short clip, a number of men can be seen helping Maradona into a room where he’s placed into a chair.
Prior to needing to see a doctor, Maradona almost overshadowed his team’s performance with his antics during the match. Shortly before kick-off, he whipped out a huge banner with himself on and happily posed for fans. Keeping it low-key, I see.
In shots taken after Argentina scored, Maradona can be seen appearing to have some sort of out-of-body experience and he was also photographed giving the finger, well, two actually. Never mind his health, he’s at severe risk of becoming a meme here…ahh, wait, too late.
