Diego Simeone Responds To Cristiano Ronaldo Imitating His 'Cojones' Celebration

Diego Simeone has responded to Cristiano Ronaldo copying his ‘cojones’ celebration last night, with the Argentine having no issue with it whatsoever.
After his Atletico Madrid side beat Juventus 2-0 in the Champions League round of 16 first leg, Simeone told the world that his team had cojones by pointing to his crotch.
“It’s not a nice gesture, I admit, but I felt the need to do it,” he told the media after the full-time whistle.
“I did it as a player at Lazio and I did it again to show our fans that we have cojones. I can only apologize if anyone was offended. It wasn’t aimed at the other team, I was turning towards our own supporters.”
However, that gesture has come to bite Simeone on the arse.
Cristiano Ronaldo did exactly what he told his family he would do prior to the game – score an eighth Champions League hat-trick at the Allianz Stadium to completely turn the tie around and send the Bianconeri through to the quarter finals.
The 34-year-old levelled matters on aggregate with two incredible headed goals and then, in dramatic fashion, Juventus were given a penalty in the 86th minute when Federico Bernardeschi was fouled inside the area and the five-time Ballon d’Or winner smashed in his 63rd Champions League knockout goal.
Having netted his fourth hat-trick against Atleti and knocked them out of the Europe’s premier club competition once again, Ronaldo rubbed salt in the wounds for Simeone by mimicking his celebration post-match.
But the man himself wasn’t bitter about it and was instead full of praise for the character the former Real Madrid superstar displayed.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is the best in the world, he can put in these performances on big nights,” Simeone said after the game, as per The Mirror.
“He will have seen how I did it at the Wanda Metropolitano and, like me, was trying to show his character.”
Atletico have now been knocked out of every Champions League they have been since 2013/14 by a team with Ronaldo leading the attack.
They did not have a shot on target in Turin and Simeone admitted his side deserved to go out.
“Juventus played better,” Simeone accepted.
“There was the chance with Alvaro Morata’s header, but not much else. Juve continually pushed forward and entered into our penalty area, so we had to defend.
“I have to congratulate Juve, because they attacked very well. They did better and deserved the victory. It’s true, we made mistakes too, but they did better tactically and on the second balls.
“Juventus played in a similar way to what we did in the first leg. We struggled and they deservedly go through to the quarter-finals.
