A new research which seeks to oust the increasing number of fake “doctorate” degree holders in Ghana has been published with alarming revelations.
According to the research titled “THE ACCREDITATION CHALLENGES IN TRANSNATIONAL EDUCATIONAL ECOLOGY: THE GHANAIAN EXPERIENCE” , examination of public records show that “over 30 Ghanaians have been awarded…honorary doctorate degrees from…institutions with questionable backgrounds in the past 2-3 years alone.”
The results and finding of the research were published by one Dr. Prosper Yao Tsikata, an Assistant Professor of Communication and Dr. A. Kobla Dotse, Director, Chemical R&D both the Valdosta State University in the United States.
The duo, in a letter addressed to the Minister of Education, Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, made available the list of “non-accredited” and even “non-existent” institutions which hand out these degrees and some of the prominent figures in society who have been recipients of these doctorate qualifications; both honorary and academic.
The report highlights some specific institutions like;
– Atlantic International University, Honolulu, Hawaii
– Dayspring Christian University of Mississippi and local affiliates the Global Center for Transformational Leadership and Pan African Clergy Council
– Almeda College/university, Atlanta, GA; European-American University, Commonwealth of Dominica and affiliates in Lagos, Nigeria
– American Century University, Albuquerque
– Thomas A-Bucket University Canterbury, Kent, UK. Affiliates: Pan African Mission Association, Lagos, Nigeria, and African Institute of Technology, Nigeria
– Swiss Management Center (SMC), Zurich, Switzerland
– University of Dublin, California
– The Commonwealth University and the London Graduate School
