Who exactly is the best player in the world? Well FIFA have a very literal award to decide who it is and Cristiano Ronaldo is once again in the running, as the only man who’s won it before.
For a while we decided who the best player in the world was by checking which of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo won the Ballon d’Or and then heading to Twitter to see who everyone thought should have won instead, usually the one that didn’t win.
For the past two years Ronaldo has been ‘The Best Men’s Player,’ making him the only winner of the award, as Real Madrid have won the Champions League.
With Real winning three Champions League titles in a row you’d have thought that Ronaldo was a shoe in to follow suit but his and Portugal’s failure at the World Cup, despite his four goals, puts that in question.
Now FIFA have released the nominees for the award and there’s some very stiff competition:
