Ghanaian hitmaker and Afrobeats artiste, Camidoh, has opened up on producing his first EP, “A Life Time Is Not Enough”.
In an exclusive interview with Rev Erskine on Y 107.9 FM’s “Myd Morning Radio Show”, Camidoh shared that his latest EP was birthed from challenging periods encountered latter part of last year, 2022.
For him, recording the song came as a new experience to his style of music. However, the outcome was worth the struggle during production.
“The toughest on the EP was Free me. I’ve always been an artiste that I really want to put out a lot of positive stuff. I’ve never spoken about deep stuff that’s been hitting me and dealing with myself. I’ve never done that but this EP opened the door to that. I feel like moving forward I’ll be doing more of that,” Camidoh said.
“Free Me was one of the songs I had to really pour my frustrations at some point when I felt like I was depressed, a word my mom has banned me from saying. But I was going through some dark moments and then some difficulties I’ve been trying to navigate my way through. Basically, it was just a tough moment and Free Me gave me the chance to share it,” he added.
Camidoh furthered that the production process was a loop of editing and finding the right words to capture his experiences was overwhelming.
“It took a lot of my energy because I was stuck between what to say and what not to say, do I want people to know I’ve been through this and all that. It was challenging and finding words to relate everything was a tough test for me. I feel like it took me like forever to keep changing and editing lyrics and all that but at some point, I said to myself let these be there and there’s no need to change anything. That’s how I feel and I want people to understand how a young creative like me feels and how they’ve been dealing with stuff.”
“The rest, for me as a lover boy I definitely had to pull my relationship and love life in the EP,” he added.
