Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Abeiku Santana, has reiterated Ghana’s position as the leading tourism destination in West Africa.
Speaking on the Myd Morning Radio Show – YHoliday Havoc Edition with Rev Erskine, Abeiku Santana said sustained and deliberate marketing efforts by the GTA – key propellers of December in GH, have helped position the country strongly on the global tourism map, particularly in Western markets.
According to him, Ghana continues to attract tourists by offering a rich mix of natural scenery, wildlife, cultural heritage and entertainment, all packaged to deliver an authentic destination experience. “When you see more tourists come into the country, it is because the Ghana Tourism Authority has gone to these countries to market Ghana. We tell them, come to Ghana. If you want nature, if you want wildlife, it’s vast,” he said.
He noted that these consistent efforts have given Ghana a competitive edge over other countries, firmly placing it at the top of West Africa’s tourism landscape. “That is why Ghana has become the most competitive tourism destination in West Africa. We are the leading tourism country in West Africa. No country beats us in West Africa because there are activities all year round,” Abeiku Santana added.
Ghana is widely recognised for its vibrant tourism calendar and warm hospitality, with initiatives such as December in GH drawing visitors from across the world. During the festive season, the country offers a broad range of tourism activities and experiences that showcase its culture, history and natural beauty, further strengthening its appeal as a preferred destination.
