Ghanaian pencil artist, Nana Kwaku Boateng, has been crowned People’s Choice Award winner in the Derwent Art Prize for his captivating “Portrait of Nii” artwork.
As winner of the People’s Choice Award, he takes home £500 in cash. Also as a shortlisted candidate, he got the chance to have his artwork exhibited in an international group exhibition at the popular Gallery@OXO in London.
This year, the competition received 6,073 entries from 2,324 artists in 77 countries, out of which 69 works by 68 artists were shortlisted for exhibition at the Gallery@OXO in London, including Nana Kwaku’s infamous “Portrait of Nii”

Exhibitions were open from 4th to 14th April, as well as a platform for art lovers to vote for their favorite artist(s) to win the prize.
